Spring Anime Recommendation 2017

Top picks from Spring this year. These anime aired last March 2017 to May 2017. Sort of like the second quarter of the year, I love Spring line up as well though normie life has been very busy on this season but still manage to see awesome series.

1. Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season /  僕のヒーローアカデミア 第二期

Genre: Action, Shounen, Comedy, School

SummaryIzuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. Now, the only thing standing between him and his first class is the academy’s formidable entrance exam—nothing a little private tutoring from the world’s mightiest hero can’t solve.

My Reviews/Thoughts: Those who do not like this series is welcome to leave this page, nah, just joking. Glad that the season two aired. Everyone is so happy.

2.  Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2 / 進撃の巨人 Season 2

Genre: Action, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen, Super Power

SummaryEren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity’s freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to rest—a horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!

(Source: Funimation)

My Review/Thoughts: Glad Eren and the gang is back on this time. I was so into the series that I re-read the manga again. Always keep me out of my wits.

3. Alice to Zouroku / アリスと蔵六

Genre: Adventure, Mystery, Seinen

Summary: A group of young girls possess a mysterious power known as "Alice's Dream," which gives them the ability to turn their thoughts into reality. Detained and experimented upon, these youths are locked away in secret until one of them manages to escape. Her name is Sana—a girl with the power to ignore the very laws of physics. When this willful powerhouse crosses paths with a stubborn old man named Zouroku, his carefully-ordered life will never be the same again!

(Source: Sentai Filmworks)

My Review/Thoughts: This anime got me hooked on the first episode. I like how it was presented and transition for me is smooth.

4. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Genre: Action, Adventure, Martial Arts, Shounen, Supernatural

Summary: The Hidden Leaf Village has entered an era of peace and modernity. Tall buildings line the streets, giant screens flash with images, and the Thunder Rail runs through the village, connecting each district together. Though it's still a ninja village, the number of civilians has increased and the life of the shinobi is beginning to change.

Boruto Uzumaki, son of Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, has enrolled in the Ninja Academy to learn the ways of the ninja. The other students are ready to dismiss him as "just the son of the Hokage,” but Boruto’s heart and character blow all their assumptions away.
As a series of mysterious events begins to unfold, it’s up to Boruto and his new friends to handle them. Like a gale-force wind, Boruto makes his own way into everyone's hearts; his story is about to begin!

(Source: Crunchyroll)

My Review/Thoughts: Imagine my happiness when it was announced about Boruto, as of right now, every episode is getting interesting, people might keep on comparing it to Boruto's Dad original series but Boruto has a unique touch.

5. Eromanga-sensei / エロマンガ先生

Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance

Summary: The "new sibling romantic comedy" revolves around Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune's little sister is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn't left her room for an entire year. She even forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps the floor. Masamune wants his sister to leave her room because the two of them are each other's, only family.
Masamune's novel illustrator, pen name "Eromanga", draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator and figured he was just a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is revealed… that his "Eromanga-sensei" is his own younger sister! To add to the chaos that erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shoujo manga creator becomes their rival!
(Source: Anime News Network)

My Review/Thoughts: One of my most unforgettable this season because the opening song is so lit! And I love Sagiri to bits.

6. Fukumenkei Noise / 覆面系ノイズ

Genre: Music, Romance, School, Shoujo

Summary: A girl who loves to sing, Nino Arisugawa experiences her first heart-wrenching goodbye when her beloved childhood friend, Momo, moves away. And after Nino befriends Yuzu, a music composer, she experiences another sad parting! With music as their common ground and only outlet, how will unrequited love play out? Since both boys promised Nino that they will find her one day through her singing, she holds on to that hope and continues to reach out with her voice. Now in high school, Nino serendipitously reunites with Yuzu, but she yearns to see Momo again…

(Source: Crunchyroll)

My Review/Thoughts: I have a love-hate relationship with this series especially when I was reading the manga. I hate third wheels or any love triangle. It just hurts so much but watching the anime is worth it.

7. Kenka Banchou Otome: Girl Beats Boys / 喧嘩番長 乙女 -GIRL BEATS BOYS-

Genre: Romance, Shoujo

Summary: Orphan heroine Hinako Nakayama suddenly reunites with her twin brother Hikaru, who asks her to take his place at Shishiku Academy, a private boys school infamous for its rough-and-tumble student body.

Being the child of a powerful Yakuza family, the Onigashima, Hikaru is obligated to become the leader of Shishiku Academy. Hinako will have to hide her identity and fight to control the school.

How will Hinako deal with a school full of handsome boys who let their fists do the talking rather than talk about their feelings?
(Source: Crunchyroll)

My Review/Thoughts: I follow this short-form series because it's shoujo but the heroine is as bad ass as the heroes, my type of MC.

8. Natsume Yuujinchou Roku / 夏目友人帳 陸

Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Shoujo, Slice of life, Supernatural

SummaryPrecious days with kind friends. A beautiful yet fleeting story about people and spirits. Natsume Takashi had been able to see yokai ever since he was young and inherited his grandmother Reiko’s Book of Friends. He spends his days with his self-proclaimed bodyguard Nyanko-sensei and freeing the yokai that were bound to the book. Natsume continues to find ways to protect the precious days where he tries to find which path to follow through his connections with spirits and those involved with them and being helped out by friends who share the same feelings.

(Source: Crunchyroll)

My Review/thoughts: One of my favorite anime of all time is Natsume Yuujichou. It's relaxing and tear-jerking at the same time. I love everything about it, from the story, flashback, how was it presented both the anime and manga, that's why my heart is just so full of love for Natsume when it got another season.

9. Sagrada Reset / サクラダリセット

Genre: Mystery, Schoo, Supernatural, Super Power

SummaryAlmost half the population of the town of Sakurada possess special abilities. Misora Haruki has the power to reset time for a maximum of three days into the past; Kei Asai has a photographic memory that allows him to remember everything he sees and hears, even after Misora resets time. Together, they use their powers to help others … except that two years ago, their actions caused the death of former classmate Sumire Sora, a girl who shouldn’t have died. As members of the school's Service Club, Kei and Misora spend most of their time fulfilling clients' requests, all the while working together to undo the pains of the past.

(Source: Sentai Filmworks)

My Review/Thoughts: I don't like the series at first, it was confusing but after every episode, it keeps getting better. I was just so curious at first because I can't find any source where to read it but, yeah, I just settled with the anime series.

10. Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni... / 僧侶と交わる色欲の夜に...

Genre: Drama, Josei, Romance

Summary: The story begins when a woman reunites with her first love at a class reunion. She discovers that Kujou has taken over his family's temple as a priest. The woman thought that priests did not have romantic relationships, but a passion ignites between the two. She wonders if what she and the priest do is really right.

(Source: Anime News Network)

My Reviews/Thoughts: WARNING! HARD SMUT / JUST A HAIR AWAY FROM HENTAI, joke, if you watch the uncensored that is. It was fun to watch, like duh, kids, leave this page if you think you are innocent but this series was a good short-form to watch if you like to find a smuttish series with love scenes and a concrete plot.

11. Tsuki ga Kirei / 月がきれい

Genre: Romance, School

Summary: It’s the third year of middle school. Kotaro, a bookish boy aspiring to become a novelist, and Akane, a track girl who loves to run, meet in the same class together for the first time. They’re put in charge of the equipment for the sports festival, and slowly grow closer via LINE. How does Kotaro deal with his growing feelings for her?

Meanwhile, Takumi has been in love with Akane since the first year, and Akane’s friend, Chinatsu, becomes interested in Kotaro.

A refreshing story of young love set in Kawagoe.
(Source: Crunchyroll)

My Review/Thoughts: Definitely my silver bullet this season, the type of series you want to watch all over again, the type where you want to watch it if you feel so fucked up with your single life #ForeveAlone. I love how the characters and story is a bit straightforward and the animation is so lit!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every season for me is memorable because of the series I follow. If you think there are more cool and fun season titles on Spring 2017 that's not included on my list, please comment away so I could check them out. Till then, #BackToNormieLife

Anime Movie Review: NARUTO: THE LAST | and the BEST! (le fangirl reaction)

Disclaimer: This post was originally posted in my first ever BLOG. Migrated it here to keep it organize. This was posted last March 2015.

I am a big fan of NARUTO.

Naruto is a part of my childhood (together with all the 90’s anime aired for free in the Philippine national television) up until now. I was in sixth grade, if my memory is serving me right, when I got hooked with it. It was a bad-ass, smart show for me. Naruto may not be the perfect hero, he is sometimes dumb, short-tempered and a failure but that means his character is very significant to me. I am not perfect and I failed a lot of times. The story of Naruto is just too awe-inspiring for me that’s why when it ended, my feels when the last Harry Potter book and the last installment of the movie was released came back. Another fandom ended which means another part of my childhood ended too. It saddened me a lot *a moment of silence for me* but life goes on.

----SPOILER ALERT---

Movie Synopsis:

The moon is approaching dangerously close to Earth!

Unless something is done, the moon will disintegrate, showering the earth with gigantic meteorites.
As the clock ticks towards the end of the world, can Naruto save the earth from this crisis?

The final chapter of Naruto's story unfolds!

The story started with a flashback of Hinata and Naruto.

So, all I can say is, HINATA this movie is yours! You shined liked the moon that almost destroyed in the movie. lol! She is so pretty in the movie. Character-wised, I still like Sakura but hell, spotlight is on Hinata and after all these years, you deserved the best. And of course, Naruto’s realization on his feelings towards Hinata *squeals at the top of my lungs*

FAVORITE SCENES (According to appearance)

·         NARUTO-SENPAI, NOTICE ME!

-          Surely, Naruto gained a lot of admirers from the female population after the great ninja war. It was funny how girls flocked over him when at first he was treated like some sort of a monster.
·         THE I-WILL-GIVE-THIS-SCARF-TO-NARUTO-NO-MATTER-WHAT OR MAYBE-TOMORROW

-          After finishing the scarf she made for Naruto, our shy Hinata is in a state of confusion on giving it at the very moment or maybe later. It was my favorite scene because it was like the scene from Disney’s Tangled when Rapunzel was confused if she should go back to her tower or follow Flynn.
·         THE INSENSITIVE NARUTO-KUN!

-          Sakura: Why don’t you walk her (referring to Hinata) home?
Naruto: Walk Hinata home. Why?
Sakura: You can’t let a young girl walk home alone at night.
Naruto: Huh. Hinata’s really strong. No one in the village would dare mess with her.

                          Packsheet, you Naruto!

·         HINATA’S CONFESSION REHEARSAL

-          Kokuhako is a very thrilling scene but surely Hinata looks like a fool rehearsing alone and then Naruto came and her stomach growled.
·         THE GENJUTSU THAT SHUTS THEM AWAY IN A WORLD OF MEMORIES. PRISON OF CAGE MEMORIES. SAKURA RESISTANT TO GENJUTSU

-          In this scene where Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, Shikamaru and Sai were trapped in a genjustsu where they were shown some memories. It actually focuses on Hinata and Naruto’s memory.  Naruto realizes his feelings for Hinata.
·         THE DATE-LIKE AROUND THE ABANDONED SHINOBI VILLAGE

-          Naruto and Hinata wandered around like a date on an abandoned shinobi village. It was, aheem, romantic and seriously, they were teamed up to looked for Hanabi (Hinata’s little sister). Full of NARUHINA feels. *Come on, NaruHina fans, come and happy dance with me*

The fun and ~kilig part is when Naruto stumbled a few steps (He is a ninja but can actually fell) and hurt himself, Hinata lends her ointment to Naruto (the same ointment she gave to our hero during the chuunin exams, remember that?) but Naruto, can’t actually reached some part of his back and Hinata had to apply it for him  (Heller, why didn’t he use a bunshin to help him, huh? LOL. Vianna, you are a romance writer! *slaps self*)

·         NARUTO’S CONFESSION BUT WAS GOODBYE-ZONED!

-  Yes, our dumb Naruto confessed first! But the bad guy came and Hinata willingly went with Toneri, the villain and was goodbye-zoned! Yes, heartbroken Naruto! You will see a side of Naruto so dejected! Hahaha. Saya!

·         STOP THE WEDDING! NARUTO OBJECT!
-  Not gonna say something about this because I spoiling you too much… hahaha!
·
KURAMA VS THE MOON BEAST XX NARUTO VS TONERI VS TONERI ON THE MOONS SURFACE

- yeah, fight scenes are still the best when you watch a shounen type of anime! And way to go Kurama! Fight! Fight! Kyaah. Such smooth fight scenes animation.

·         KURAMA’S CALLIGRAPHY

-          Kurama can actually write! Hahaha. He was given that task in order for the shinobi’s on earth can see that the mission to save Hanabi and the earth was accomplished properly! And I should never forget my favorite sensie which is the current Hokage in this movie, KAKASHI-sensei! He is awesome ever since!

·         THE KISS

- Aheem, rejoice NaruHina fans because there is a kissing scene here!

·         NARUTO AND HINATA’S HAPPY FAMILY

-          I was crying on the ending credits and cried more after it because the best part was shown—the happy family of NaruHina. First screen appearance of Bolt and Himawari! I was really touched by the idea that the characters you have been watching ever since you were a kid (I was actually around 11 or 12 years old) are now grown up and has a families of their own ( and I’m like here, loves food, anime and manga). I grew up with them and my emotional attachment to the series is unexplainable. LOL. I’m happy yet a part of me is sad! (I need a hug!) and the family picture! Kawaii and sugoii!

FAVORITE LINES from the movie:

Shikamaru’s BANAT (How do you even translate Banat in English)

1.
Shikamaru: Did something happen between you and Hinata?
Naruto: No. Not really.
Shikamaru: You keep groaning her name. Hinata. Hinata. As well as some other embarrassing things. But I got to listen in on your mushy side.

2.
Is it hard to see the woman who dumped you? So, Naruto’s strong as a Shinobi but he can’t handle a broken heart. – Shikamaru

3.
Sai to Shikamaru: Are you going to depend on Sakura to heal not only his body but his heart as well?
Shikamaru: Can you do it?
Sai: You have a point.

4.
ever thought you’d confess your love first. Remember long ago, when you said you loved me? But wasn’t that because I love Sasuke-kun? You didn’t want to lose to him. It’s real this time, isn’t it? Hinata is a great person. She’s almost too good for you.  - Sakura

5,
When a girl truly falls in love, her feelings don’t change that easily. They cant change. I understand how she feels very well. – Sakura

6.
Hinata, this big idiot finally understands. The meaning of the scarf you gave me when you went to Toneri. I know now, from the scarf you painstakingly knitted and took so long to finish that your love can’t be unraveled so easily. Wait for me. You loved someone like me forever and ever. Now, as a man, there’s something I’ve got to say. – Naruto

7.
My hunches usually end on a high noteKakashi

There’s a lot actually but that would be too much spoiling spree, right?
I rate this movie a 9.5 out of 10~! Bias Vi because I am a NaruHina.

It has THE BEST ENDING CREDITS EVER! *exaggerating at this moment because it is just so epic* It showed the modern Japanese wedding of Naruto and Hinata under the sakura trees. It was just so beautiful, so surreal though it was just basically black, white and pink with selected awesome photos. The song is perfect!

I WILL DEFINITELY WATCH IT AGAIN ON CINEMAS! I WILL BUY A COPY!

-----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sorry, this is really not one of my best review as my fangirl self took over me when I was writing this. Anyway, I'm just so happy my ship sailed and that I'm still seeing the couple up to now because of Boruto: Naruto The Next Generation

Anime Review: Bokura ga Ita Review (A dose of Shoujo-Romance series)

Disclaimer: This post was originally posted in my first ever BLOG. Migrated it here to keep it organize. This was posted last June 2014.

It's been awhile since the last time I watched a shoujo-romance series. I've been drowned with all the shounen, sports and crime solving series lately. So, I decided to watch Bokura ga Ita. When I filtered by genre on my anime downloading application (Animania: it's a good app but it’s not perfect) from shoujo and romance and If I remembered it right, it was part of the top ten, so I decided to give it a try.

It wasn't really my first time to hear about the series. I knew from the start that it was from a manga series but I never had the chance to read it because I thought it wasn't good enough. Ah, why did I judged a manga by its summary. I am the type who would read all types of manga and I don’t know why I miss this or maybe I miss a lot more. Got to catch up, Vi!

----SPOILER ALERT----

So, my rating for this series is 8/10.

Bokura ga Ita means We Were There

I don't know where but they were there. Nah, I'm just derping again. I can't explain so much about the title here, I may write longer than this.

Nanami Takahashi, Yano Motoharu, Takeuchi and Yamamoto were the main characters. But the story basically revolves around the first two I have mentioned.

For me, it wasn't the typical boy meets girl type. I think the story has a deeper meaning to it. It’s all about relationship and tackles the issue of trust and betrayal which is a very complex topic (or am I just overreacting.) It is not just about the rainbow, fuwa-fuwa and kirakira feels on entering a romantic relationship.

It also tackles the hard to understand feelings of a girl/woman. (In a perspective of the opposite sex) How a girl complicate some simple things because sometimes their emotions and mind mixed up together. Yeah, sometimes girls’ emotions are unstable. (Based on my experience with girl friends and what I have observed in the series as well)

But, nonetheless, it is about young love and how they manage to overcome all the problems, the scars in the past, making their bond strong. Making serious decisions not only for the both of them, but for the benefit of everyone.

I may be  more or less a decade late on this series but one thing that is sure, this is worth watching and reading.

Kudos to the mangaka-sensei! The characters are awesome, as well as the story and plot.

The opening, ending songs and the OST's were the best. It really fits the series and pleasant to the ears.

The animation is so cool too. There's a particular distinct feature of the series for me, the not showing the half of the character's face at the end of an important scene. It's sugoiii.

The last episode is heartbreaking. It left me hanging and it feels like someone just squished my kokoro. But it's a kanpeki ending for me. It gives you a feeling of wanting more and you have no other choice but to read the manga itself.

I've search that the anime series ended on Chapter 31, I forgot the volume. I am planning on reading it soon. It has a Live Action Movie last 2012 and I think it continues from where the anime left off.

Wish my heart a good luck because I'm guessing that the manga would be one hell of a feels trip again...

----------------------------------------

That's my impression after watching the anime series. It was a roller coaster one for me as it's not the typical shoujo series I usually watch. Do you have any shoujo anime recommendation guys? please leave it at the comments.

Summer Anime Recommendation 2015

Disclaimer: This is a repost. Migrated it here from Normie Blog

Time flies so fast, right? It seems like I’m still into the spring anime (with some series still continuing until now) and it feels like yesterday when I posted my spring anime 2015 recommendation. Now some of it ended and you might want to marathon but can’t decide what title to watch, you can check out my recommendations here: Spring Anime Recommendation 2015

This Summer the anime world offers us fans again some awesome titles that’s worth our time. This may be late because it’s mid-summer already and some series are halfway with their stories and such. Huhu #theSlothInMe.

By the way, I am not really a critic and I basically watch everything as long as it has a solid plot and it catches my interest. My aim is to give my honest review on a certain series and share my thoughts about it to my fellow fans. So without further shingalings, here’s my SUMMER ANIME 2015 RECOMMENDATIONS (in alphabetical order)

1. Akagami no Shirayuki-hime

Genre: Adventure, Fantasy

In the kingdom of Tanbarun lives Shirayuki, an independent and strong-willed young woman. Her resourceful intelligence has led her become a skilled pharmacist, but her most defining trait is her shock of beautiful apple-red hair. Her dazzling mane gets her noticed by the prince of the kingdom, but instead of romancing her, he demands she be his concubine. Shirayuki refuses, chops off her lovely locks, and runs away to the neighboring kingdom of Clarines. There, she befriends a young man named Zen, who, SURPRISE, is also a prince, although with a much better temperament than the previous one. Watch as Shirayuki finds her place in the new kingdom, and in Zen’s heart.

Source: FUNimation | Watch it on FUNimation

My Review/thoughts:  Shoujo manga fans, rejoice, all hail for the Snow White with Red Hair’s anime adaptation. I am a fan of the manga and following it for more than 3 years already. Seeing it with full colors and in 2D is just too much fan service. Aside from the lovely characters, you will also love the story because it’s light and beautiful. Shoujo/Romance fans would surely love this. As for me, after watching the first episode, it gave me the urge to read the manga all over again. I never thought Prince Zen could be so awesome in anime. Shirayuki is also not your usual damsel in distress princess wanna-be. She fight her own fight and does what a badass heroine should do.

2. Aoharu X Kikanjuu

Genres: Action, comedy

Themes: Crossdressing, survival game

The story follows high school student Hotaru Tachibana, a girl disguised as a boy. Through strange circumstances she finds herself drawn into the world of survival games by a host, Masamune Matsuoka. The two form a team with ero-manga artist Tohru Yukimura and aim to be the best in Japan.

Source: ANN | Watch it on Crunchyroll

My Review/thoughts: Well, I have no prior knowledge to this series but hell, badass hero—ine is badass. Chara were so cool, geddemit! It was from the manga and a must watched! This anime is so cool, not just full of action and comedy, it’s actually kinda deep, read the one-shot manga version (just last week) and yeah, my kind of shounen. Toy Gun Gun for the win sa Top Combat Game! UPDATE 9/12/2017 Still following on the manga and it gets better and better.

3. Charlotte
Genres: Comedy, drama, magic

Themes: school life, superpowers

Special abilities occur among a small percentage of boys and girls in puberty. Yū Otosaka uses his power without others knowing, and lives a fairly normal, average school life. Before him suddenly appears a girl, Nao Tomori. Due to his meeting with her, the fate of special power-users will be exposed.

Source: ANN | Watch it on Hulu or Crunchyroll

My Review/thoughts: Another PA works masterpiece (yes, for me it’s a masterpiece). The first episode is so interesting. It was never boring but let’s see with the following episodes. PA works could also be genius at times but they also make half-baked series. It really depends on the viewer thoo. I got traumatize with this anime. TT.TT // internal scream.

4. Classroom Crisis

Genres: Comedy, drama, romance, science fiction

Humanity has successfully colonized all the planets in the Solar System, with intentions to continue into new frontiers. Individuals live stable lives in these colonies, including young high school students living in 4th Tokyo on Mars. Two of these students are Iris Shirazaki and Mizuki Sera. Iris is finishing her last year of high school while studying to be a test pilot while her friend Mizuki also works as a mechanic on the aircraft. Her own brother, Kaito, oversees Mizuki and Iris as their homeroom teacher and program director.

Source: ANN | Watch it on Hulu or Crunchyroll

My Review/thoughts: Ha! A scifi at it’s finest. I actually like the first episode, there’s nothing much to say because when there’s ‘classroom’ in the title, it really reminds of Assaination Classroom. Shizz, I miss Koro-sensei. Anyway, Classroom Crisis has awesome potential, definitely following this.

5. Dragon Ball Super

Genres: Action, fantasy, science fiction

Themes: Aliens, developing powers, fighting, martial arts, superheros
After defeating Majin Buu, life is peaceful once again. Ordered by Chi-chi to earn money, Goku works even as he wants to train even more. Meanwhile, Goten, about to become a brother-in-law to Videl, sets out on a journey with Trunks to find her a present.

Source: ANN

My Review/thoughts: This is the continuation after Goku defeated Majinbu. Childhood feels. I really like how this DBZ was freshly drawn. But seriously, I’m really used to the Tagalog/Filipino voice actors of the characters. But, hell, gonna follow this. // joins those scream like Goku events on public places.

7. Gangsta

Genres: Action, drama

Themes: Crime, mafia, violence

In the crime-ridden, mafia-governed city of Ergastulum, Worick and Nicolas are two “handymen” known as “Benriya” who would take any dirty job from either police or mafia — for a good price. After an assignment from police the two met and later joined by Alex, a former prostitute who got interested in the mysterious background of the team, in particular of Nicolas’ abilities.

Source: ANN | Watch it on FUNimation

My Review/thoughts: My favorite this season. It’s violent but beautifully created. It’s really out of the norms but heck it’s badass! The plot and the story is more than interesting. I’m totally hooked. I like the setting. Good job, Manglobe! I’m more amazed to know that the mangaka is a woman! // FAVORITE GUYS! SO MUCH ACTION.

7. Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou

Genres: Comedy, romance, supernatural

Themes: bishoujo, ecchi, harem, mythical creatures

Three years ago, the world learned that harpies, centaurs, catgirls, and all manners of fabulous creatures are not merely fiction; they are flesh and blood – not to mention scale, feather, horn, and fang. Thanks to the “Cultural Exchange Between Species Act,” these once-mythical creatures have assimilated into society, or at least, they’re trying. When a hapless human teenager named Kurusu Kimihito is inducted as a “volunteer” into the government exchange program, his world is turned upside down. A snake-like lamia named Miia comes to live with him, and it is Kurusu’s job to take care of her and make sure she integrates into his everyday life. (from manga)

Source: ANN | Watch it on Crunchyroll

My Review/thoughts: Teh, to those who are into harem, this series is for you! Haha. I’m not really into the harem genre but the girls in this series is really something!

8. Okusama ga Seito kaichou!

Genres: Comedy, romance

Themes: Ecchi, school life

High school freshman Hayato Izumi lost the campaign for student council president to Ui Wakana, a girl who shocked the entire student body by promising “will remove all restrictions on campus romance” and gave away free condoms. Later that day Wakana the president-elect brought her belongings to Izumi’s residence and claimed herself his betrothed fiancée.

Source: ANN | Watch it on Crunchyroll

My Review/thoughts: Ohohoy! Ecchi (Hair away from hentai). One of the funniest series this season. R18. I face-palmed myself after watching the first episode! Very kinky anime. Watch also the season 2.

9. Prison School

Genres: Comedy

Themes: ecchi, school

There was a time when the Hachimitsu Private Academy was a revered and elite all-girls’ boarding school on the outskirts of Tokyo but a recent policy revision is allowing boys into the student body. On his first day, Kiyoshi Fujino discovers that he’s one of only five boys enrolled at the school. Completely overwhelmed by the thousands of girls on campus, the few boys find that their situation is less than ideal.

Source: ANN | Watch it on Crunchyroll

My Review/thoughts:  I dare you to watch this anime and not blame me for something. I also face-palmed myself after watching the first episode but hey, let me tell you something, I was actually entertained. I laughed. Sometimes it gets so mature but well, just cover your eyes and ears and think of happy thoughts.

10. Rokka no Yuusha

Genres: Adventure, drama, fantasy, mystery

Themes: Mythology

When the Majin awoke from the depths of darkness, the deity of fate chose six heroes and bequeathed them with the power to save the world. Adlet, a boy who proclaims himself the strongest on Earth, was selected among the Rokka no Yūsha (Braves of the Six Flowers), and he goes to the rendezvous point — but seven have gathered there. The heroes suspect that someone among the seven is the enemy, and the initial suspicion falls on Adlet.

My Review/thoughts: Yes, this series is a must watched. I really like the setting and the visuals. Some episodes might be boring and annoying but it's worth your time, promise.

11. Ushio to Tora

Genres: Action, comedy, supernatural

Themes: Demons, ghosts

While cleaning out his family’s Shinto temple, middle-school student Ushio Aotsuki stumbles upon a hidden cellar which houses a dangerous yokai. The yokai, pinned by a legendary weapon called the Beast Spear for 500 years, attracts many other supernatural creatures to the premises. Ushio is forced to free the creature – whom he names “Tora” – in return for his help in defeating them. Tora, who wishes to eat Ushio but is stalled by the Beast Spear, begins to haunt the boy in the hopes that an opportunity will present itself. However, Ushio’s possession of the Spear seems to result in trouble after trouble, and Tora finds himself an unwilling ally to Ushio in his battles against various supernatural foes. Meanwhile, a greater danger lurks in the form of Hakumen no Mono, an incredibly powerful yokai with a thirst for destruction who is about to awaken from an extended slumber. (from manga)

My Review/thoughts: I read somewhere (I can’t remember when and where) that this is already a remake. I never heard of the previous series but hell, I like the theme. I like yokai and stuff. And the plot, heck it was great. Looking forward for more.

So, that’s it for my Summer Anime Recommendation 2015. I know there’s a lot of series to watch this season but #TimeManagement. Anyway, leave your recommendations below at the comments and I will check it out!

Anime Review: Cardcaptor Sakura OVA | Sakura and the Two Teddy Bears

Cardcaptor Sakura is one of my beloved anime of all time. Thanks to our local channels here who decided to broadcast the anime. I don’t know about anything about the manga and whatnot because those forms of media seems hard to penetrate in our country on the past years, not until the age of internet, it wasn’t long ago, about 5 years I guess when I finished reading the manga.

Although, Cardcaptor Sakura is not the first anime I watched, it holds a special place in my heart ever since I was in fourth grade. I’ve watched a lot of mahou shoujo (magical girls) type of anime but Sakura is one of the cutest out there. Everything about Cardcaptor Sakura is pleasing to me. The manga ended almost 20 years ago. CLAMP did mention that they never intend to make a sequel at all.

20 years later, a sequel was announced! Imagine how happy I am hearing the news. A surge of nostalgia came in to me. The Clear Card Arc is one of the best things that happened last year in my otaku life. The anime is slated to air on Winter 2018.

When I found out that an OVA is on the making, I wasn’t sure how to feel at first? Will they follow the anime? Don’t get me wrong I also love the alternate endings from movie 2. But now we know, it was faithfully adapted from the final chapter of the manga itself and a prequel for the upcoming Clear Card Arc Anime.

Animation wise it was just pure high-quality art. Very light and striking.  I don’t really mind how modern the art of course it may have some differences from the art on the anime as it was on the 90’s, the Sakura vibe is there. Madhouse, thank you so much.

The main cast of the anime reprise their respective roles and it was just the most nostalgic part the OVA.

As for the plot, as I have mention earlier, they stays close to the manga, though, there were scenes that did not make it to the OVA (Rika and Chiharu scenes and more) but very unnoticeable not unless to hardcore fans. We have to bear in mind that it’s only more or less 20 minutes so I understand that they need to cut some scenes and include only the most relevant ones that are essential as the episode is a prequel for the upcoming anime.

Memorable scenes are definitely Syaoran and Sakura’s confession, the bus stop scene is very touching. Sakura and Syaoran’s reunion as the epilogue of the episode completes it all.

My personal rating would be 10/10 of course! Kudos for bringing the child back in me. So who’s excited for the anime next year? Let’s wait together fellow CCS fans!
