Winter Anime Recommendation 2018

We are already halfway in the first quarter of the year, have you been updated guys with the first wave of animes this year? If not, well, I'm here again for another recommendation for this season. If you haven't watched any anime in the previous seasons yet you can also check out my previous recommendations below for 2017:

This Winter's line up has been full of different kinds of emotions and feels you can name. Nostalgia, happiness for second season and surprise. Now, if you are the type who doesn't want cliffhangers and want to watch a series in one go, then this post is for you, you can bookmark this for future reference once winter anime line up is over except those titles that will go on till next season.

1. 25-sai no Joshikousei

Synopsis: The romance story centers around Hana Natori, an earnest, good-natured 25-year-old woman whose cousin refuses to go to high school. Hana takes her cousin's place and attends the high school. On her first day, though, Hana's ruse is discovered by her former high school classmate Okito Kanie—who happens to be the high school's world history teacher.

Genre: Ecchi, Romance, School (Uncensored Version is R18)

My Review/Thoughts: This anime has the same format with Omiai Aite wa Oshiego, Tsuyoki na, Mondaiji. , Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni... so if you enjoy those anime, then definitely you will also like this one. There are only a few anime with this type of format and it's hard to find the uncensored version if you don't look enough, It's hentai with a solid plot if you decided to watch the uncensored version. //wink//

2. A Place Further than the Universe / Sora yori mo Tooi Basho

Synopsis: Mari Tamaki is in her second year of high school and wants to start something. It's then that she meets Shirase, a girl with few friends who's considered a weirdo by the rest of the class and nicknamed "Antarctica" since it's all she ever talks about. Unlike her peers, Mari is moved by Shirase's dedication and decides that even though it's unlikely that high school girls will ever go to Antarctica, she's going to try to go with Shirase.

Genre: Adventure, slice of life

My Thoughts/Reviews: This anime is the most promising this season. I love this anime to bits. The realism they have put on this series is relatable and every episode is very well thought. You can also learn a lot of adulting lessons coming from this anime.

3. Beatless

Synopsis: With the introduction of an ultra-advanced AI that surpasses human intelligence, beings that mankind is yet to fully comprehend made from materials far too advanced for human technology begin coming into being. Lacia, an hIE equipped with a black coffin-shaped device, is one of these. In boy-meets-girl fashion, 17-year-old Arato Endo has a fateful encounter with the artificial Lacia. For what purpose were these artificial beings created? Amid questions regarding the coexistence of these artificial beings and humans, a 17-year-old boy makes a decision...

Genre: Action, Drama, Romance, Scifi

My Thoughts/Reviews: I added this to this list despite how the plot is cliche and stuff because the story and pacing is worth to watch!

4.  Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card Hen

Synopsis: Fourteen-year-old Sakura starts junior high school along her friends, including Syaoran, who had just returned to Tomoeda. After having a dream with a mysterious cloaked figure, all of Sakura's cards turn blank and are rendered powerless, thus she starts her quest to find out what is wrong. In doing so, Sakura and her allies discover and capture new transparent cards using a new key.

Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance, Shoujo

My Thoughts/Reviews: Read my first episode impression here: LINK for you to know how every 90's kid are rejoicing for this anime coming back this year.

5. Darling in the Franxx

Synopsis: The story is set in the distant future. The land is ruined, and humanity establishes the mobile fort city Plantation. Pilots produced inside Plantation live in Mistilteinn, also know as the "birdcage." Children live there knowing nothing of the outside world or the freedom of the sky. Their lives consist of battling to carry out missions. Their enemies are mysterious giant lifeforms known as Kyouryuu, and the children pilot robots called Franxx to face off against them. For the children, riding the Franxx proves their existence.

A boy named Hiro is called Code:016, and he was once known as a prodigy. However, he has fallen behind, and his existence seems unnecessary. Not piloting a Franxx is the same as ceasing to exist. One day, a mysterious girl known as "Zero Two" appears before him. Two horns grow out of her head.

Genre: Mecha, Scifi

My thoughts/Reviews: The most hype mecha anime this season. You can read the inspiration of the names of the mecha/franxx: LINK and some fan theory of the ending of this beautiful anime here: LINK

6. Devilman: Crybaby

Synopsis: Akira Fudo is informed by his best friend Ryou Asuka that the demons will revive and reclaim the world from the humans. As the humans do not stand a chance against the supernatural power of the demons, Ryou suggests fusing with a demon. Akira becomes Devilman, with the power of a demon and the heart of a human.

Genre: Action, demon, horror, supernatural, R18

My Thoughts/Review: This series is not for the faint hearted. It has a solid and awesome plot but some scenes may be very disturbing. Nevertheless, it's worth to watch this legally on Netflix.

7. Gakuen Babysitter

Synopsis: After their parents are killed in a plane crash, Ryuuichi and his younger brother Kotarou are taken in by the chairman, who they never met before, of an elite academy. Ryuuichi becomes the school daycare's new babysitter.

Genre: Slice of life, comedy, school, shoujo

My Thoughts/Review: The most heartwarming, tearjerker anime this season, well, because of babies. Every episodes are full of, "ahhss!" Please don't miss this one, it's a very cute series.

8. Junji Ito Collections

Synopsis: A collection of animated horror stories based on the works of Japanese artist Junji Ito.

My thoughts/reviews: If you have been a fan of Junji Ito, finally there's an anime adaptation to his spine-tingling, sleep-depriving stories. Please watch it with other horror fans and don't watch it at night.

9. Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san

Synopsis: Living by this principle, the middle schooler Nishikata gets constantly made fun of by his seat neighbor Takagi-san. With his pride shattered to pieces, he vows to turn the tables and get back at her some day. And so, he attempts to tease her day after day, only to find himself victim to Takagi-san's ridicule again sooner than later. Will he be able to make Takagi-san blush from embarrassment even once in the end?

Genre: Slice of life, Shoujo, Romance, School

My Thoughts/Review: Finally an anime adaptation of this title. Anime fans has been labeling Takagi-san as one of the best waifu this season. Story wise, transitiona and dialouges are thumbs up!

10. Koi wo Ameagari no You ni / Love is Like After The Rain

Synopsis: Akira Tachibana is a soft-spoken high school student who used to be a part of the track and field club but, due to an injury, she is no longer able to run as fast as she once could. Working part-time at a family restaurant as a recourse, she finds herself inexplicably falling in love with her manager, a divorced 45-year-old man with a young son.

Despite the age gap, Akira wholeheartedly embraces his mannerisms and kind nature, which is seen as spinelessness by the other employees, and little by little, the two begin to understand each other. Although unable to explain why exactly she is attracted to him, Akira believes that a concrete reason is not needed to truly love someone. On a rainy day, she decides to finally tell her manager about how she feels... but just how will he react?

Genre: Romance, Seinin

My Thoughts/Reviews: This might be a bit cringy but romance is romance and age doesn't matter so if you are looking for a bit 90's animation feels, this one is for you!

Please look forward to PART 2

Top 10 Anime Songs for the Holiday Season

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again. As fans of anime songs, I bet you are probably sick of listening to the usual Western Christmas music, traditional and classical (or the overused Christmas Station ID songs of our dear local TV networks and if you are from the Philippines, Jose Mari Chan )
Thus this list was born to give a bit of a geeky feeling while enjoying the holidays. Be prepared to feel eargasm and from Vi-Geeky, Happy Holidays!

10. Card Captor Sakura - Yoru no Uta

From the anime Christmas CD, Cardcaptor Sakura: Tomoeda Elementary school Chorus Christmas Concert. Sakura Kinomoto doesn't appear on this album at all, so the concert features Junko Iwao as Tomoyo Daidouji.

9. Detective Conan - Winter Bells

Opening 10 of the long running mystery series Detective Conan

8. Sailor Moon - Last Christmas (Sailor Mars Ver.)

Though this is definitely a Western Christmas song (for the broken hearted) and it has a lot of cover around the globe, this version is still worth listening. This is from the Sailor Moon Christmas album. It is the cover version of WHAM's performed by Michie Tomizawa, the Japanese voice of Rei Hino/Sailor Mars in Sailor Moon. This is one of only 2 songs from the Sailor Moon Christmas Albums that are sung in English (the other being White Christmas, also by Tomizawa).

7. Pokemon - Mousugu Santa ga Yattekuru!

Ending song from Pikachu's Winter Vacation 2001 OVA, from the Album: Pikachu no Fuyuyasumi Soundtrack (Pikachu's Winter Vacation Soundtrack) It was released last December 22, 2000 and sung by Mayumi Sudou

6. Shugo Chara!! - Happy Xmas

From the Character Song Album of the same series and performed by Kanae Itou (Amu Hinamori), Kana Asumi (Ran), Nanae Katou (Miki), Aki Toyosaki (Suu)

5. Macross Frontier - Merry Christmas Without You by cosmic cuune

The song is sung by May'n (Sheryl Nome's singing voice), Megumi Nakajima (Ranka Lee) and Frontier Stars which consisted of cast members Yūichi Nakamura, Aya Endo, Hiroshi Kamiya, Megumi Toyoguchi, Kenta Miyake, Rie Tanaka, and Kaori Fukuhara.

4. Toradora - "Holy Night" by Ami and Taiga Rie Kugimiya (Taiga) and Eri Kitamura (Ami)

Yes, I bet it is your favorite part of the Christmas episode of the series too. It was performed in episode 19 during their school’s holiday party.

3. Bakuman - We wish you a merry Christmas -Hayami Saori (Azuki Miho)

Insert song from Season 2, Episode 24 of the series! Engrish aside, her voice is just so sweet!

2. Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - White Wishes

Ending song of the awesome and cool, romantic-comedy series My Neighbor is a Monster (Read the effin’ manga!) It’s very chritmas-sy on the official MV than on the visuals of the anime ending theme!

1. Love Live! - Snow Halation

This is μ’s second single. It was released on December 22, 2010 on both a CD and Blu-ray disc, in order to celebrate the upcoming Christmas Day. It is also included in all of μ's solo albums and μ's Best Album Best Live! Collection. It was also used as an ending theme for episode 9 of Love Live! School idol project Season 2.  Source: http://love-live.wikia.com/wiki/Snow_halation
You wouldn’t dare miss this on your playlist!
