One-Shot Spotlight: 1/3 NO KARESHI

Hanya! I haven't update this series in a while. Ever heard of adulting, fellow manga geeks? yep, I was kinda distracted with real life but anyway, I'm back for sanity purposes.

On the One-Shot Spotlight this is week is a classic one-shot published years ago by Shimaki Ako. This precious one shot is about a cute and up-tight third year high school student named Fukuda Rei is pressured for not having a boyfriend despite being a third year.  Then suddenly, a handsome guy ask to take her photo and she said yes, unknowingly her underwear was showing. The handsome guy sort of blackmailed Rei to meet her in order not to spread the photo. They keep on meeting until Rei falls in love with the guys but there is something that guy is hiding. What is it?

I dare you again to read it! This is a classic one shot almost old manga reader (sorry for the lack of a better term, sometimes new readers/millenial readers, refer me as obaasan/ajumma already for being a reader/otaku/fangirl for a long time) Going back, you shouldn't miss reading this one, despite the cliche-ness of the plot, this one shot has it's own charisma that will drawn you to read, look, search for more to read.

I rate this one-shot 8/10 for old times sake.

One-Shot Spotlight: Kimi wa Maru de, Ano Hana no You de

Good day, geeks. I'm still up for all the one-shot manga that I highly what you guys to read. This week's recommendation is Kimi wa Maru de, Ano Hana no You de by Misaki Gotou was serialized by Sho-Comi. It has 3 chapters, equivalent to 1 volume.

The story is about Nazuna Hinagata who falls in love with her senpai, Ichikawa Nao. Unfortunately, it was unrequited because Nao is in a relationship. As time passes, our main heroine finally lets go of her unrequited love to her senpai and aims a different love interest, however on the first day of high school, she unexpectedly met Nao senpai again, the senpai who broke her heart. Will this time be a good ending or not

I dare you to read it. The first chapter was very promising. It has some unexpected twist, very unexpected in a short manga. It was also heartwarming at the same time and worth reading especially if you are feeling melancholic.

My rating for this one-shot or since it has three chapters, short manga is 7 out of 10.

One-Shot Spotlight: Massugu Kimi e

We are not done yet with Haruka Mitsui. This gem was published last October 10, 2014, still under The Dessert.

This is a very cute love story about broken hearts and friendship. Main characters are both childhood friends. The main heroine is a heartbroken fella who afraid to love again. It's a story of realizing that the person that we are really looking is just beside us all along or could be more.

Read and you shall find out!

My hands are always up for Mistui-sensei's art. The story is quite a cliche but nonetheless, it was entertaining it was a cute quick read.

My rating for this one-shot is 8/10

One-Shot Spotlight: Banken Hero

Another one-shot gem by Haruka Mitsui. It was published July 24, 2014, under Dessert.

The story is about a clumsy boy who is in love with a very strong independent girl. All he wants was to be a perfect hero who will be a perfect knight in shining armor to her princess. Unfortunately, her princess is not the typical damsel in distress and he, on the other hand, is clumsy could be mistaken as the damsel in distress.

So how will our main hero capture the heart of the main character?

It's for you to find out!

Same as what Daisuki no Yukue, the art is always amazing and dreamy but this time it has a bit of angst and dialogues are funnier than any other Haruka Mitsui's one-shot. The story transition was smooth you'd wish it was not just a one-shot.

My rating for this one-shot is 10/10

Other works of Haruka Mitsui-sensei:

One-Shot Spotlight: Daisuki no Yukue

Reading manga is not just a good past time, as a manga reader for almost a decade now, it also serves as my stress reliever, my get-away from reality and inspiration as an aspiring writer.

I always encourage fellow fans to read the manga especially those anime series that was adapted but sometimes I get responses such as, it’s tiring to read. Therefore, this blog series is created. One-shot Spotlight is my mini-series where I will be featuring one-shot manga that deserves all the love and attention.

One way of starting the hobby of reading manga is to read one-shots because it will help you get used to reading from left to right, not only that, you will also appreciate how some mangaka’s are very creative to fit a very awesome story in short form with few pages only.

For the information of everyone, did you know that some major series ongoing today started out as a one-shot manga. Before they get serialized and became an official series, mangas such as Haikyuu, Koe no Kitachi and many to mention started out as a 50-pages more or less story.

So, for the first installment of this series, I proudly present DAISUKI NO YUKUE / ダイスキのゆくえ

Daisuki no Yukue by Haruka Mitsui was published last December 10, 2014 and serialized by The Dessert.

The story is about a girl, member of the art club who sketches drawing for her club. The boys' volleyball team allowed her to draw them during games and practices as her art practice/project. She admires this one boy who happens to be her classmate too who shows a lot of effort in the volleyball team despite his height disadvantage, our MC was drawn to this hardworking boy. One particular senpai/upperclassman stops her from noticing other volleyball club member and just focus on him, it seems that this senpai likes our MC but who will she choose? Senpai or hardworking classmate? Perfect for the English alternate title, My Love Goes Where?

You go read it for you to know!

I’ve read all available manga online by Haruka Mitsui-sensei and would always be amazed how transitions is so smooth and art is just so pretty. The plot is kind of unique than any other shoujo one-shot. I always go back to this manga if I wanted to read something sporty and fluffy. It’s like Haikyuu with a very fluffy romance. Plus, the dialogues are pretty neat and cheesy.
My rating for this one-shot is 10/10.
